NOTTINGHAMSHIRE DARTS OPEN
The Notts open took place on Sunday 21st of June this year; it was a great turnout with over 180 men and 45 women. The standard of darts was excellent with plenty of 180’s and a 170 checkout from Nottingham’s own Dave Emery. The quarter finalist were Marc Dewsbury (NOTTS), Andy McCrackin (YORKSHIRE), Neil Birkin (NOTTS), Tony Randell (WORC), Mark Robinson (DERBY), William Burksfield (DERBY), Chris Cooper (NOTTS) and Steve Soar (DERBY). After some close games the eventual finalist were Neil Birkin and Mark Robinson is was a great final and a close game with Mark coming out on top in the deciding leg to win 3-2 and taking the Men’s title and £700.
The ladies games were also of a high standard with some very close; in one quarter final between Ronnie Johnson (CAMB) and Deta Hedman (ESSEX) with score standing at 2-2 Ronnie had to take a 130 finish to win the match. The women’s finalist was Lorraine Farlam (DERBY) and Amanda Abbott (NORFOLK) with Lorraine coming out on top beating Amanda 3-2 taking £150 and ladies title.
It was a fantastic day and was well run by Nottinghamshire committee.I would like to thank the “Cambridgeshire tarts” who raised £200 for the Mc Millan cancer nurses and the N.D.O. on the raffle. I would also like to thank our sponsors who are Rolls Royce Leisure and Elite darts.
